Tessa is the first child i’ve photographed since launching Geeky Chic. Sometimes I am apprehensive about taking photos of children, but with Tessa I simply could not resist. Her ringlets are the kind that would make anyone who longs for curly hair jealous. Every little piece of Tessa’s outfit, wonderfully put together by her mother, Julia, is so chic: the gold boots, the metallic pink tights, her shorts, the yeti/chewbacca vest with the over sized hood that ties together with a polkadot ribbon. Her little black purse looks almost identical to the purse my mother used to make me carry when I was “forced” to go out with them to formal events. Can you seriously say there is something about this outfit you don’t love? I can’t. I recall these horrific shows of psychotic mothers dressing up their little daughters like adults (caking on heavy make-up) to win beauty pageants. When I see Tessa I think of the complete opposite. I think of a mother with fashion sensibilities who put together this tasteful, stylish ensemble, mindful for colours and accessories that emphasize her youth.
